Teamwork

I just want to take a moment here to say that my team on this film rocks hard core. We cut through assignments "like hot butter through cheese". Few more months of this project left and we are going to have a lot of fun making this movie. Ok that is all for now. It's Friday, and if you know where I work you know what that means.

Break out the Sweet Vermouth, it's Martini Night

36,000 Miles

I hit 36,000 miles on the way to work this morning. I had just under 10K on my first MINI. That's 46,000 miles of MINI Motoring, or roughly 20% the way to the moon. That's almost two trips around the equator. And what happens at 36,001 ? I hear a new clicking noise from the engine. I am still in warranty just not free service. It's not loud and doesn't sound serious. Just something to have Steve look at next time I am up at his place. My Good friend db had something like this happen right at one of his mileage marks. Just the way things go.
We have another pre wedding photo shoot today. It should be a lot of fun, we got some great pictures the last time we did this.

Taxes

I am off to go do mine. Wish me luck. In other news I got my first Compositing Final at DD this morning. I animated, lit, rendered, and Composited this shot. Normally this goes through 4 people in our pipeline here but I got to do this one all my self. It was a good day.

Riya Has gone Beta!

Riya the new online photo website has gone into beta. I know what you are thinking, I use Flikr why do I need this? This has AI. It's AI can detect faces. It can scan all your photos and pick out who it in them then tag the photos. Yea, it's just that cool. While there are privacy issues you can make your photos private and share them with only select people. It can also link faces across libraries. So if Bob is in Tom's and John's photos it will know it's the same person. It's also a good way to track down dopplegangers.

I signed up for it a while ago, Got my invite today. Uploading a few hundred pictures to test. Try and sign up for it, if it won't let you just e-mail me and I will hook you up.

Do not eat at CineSpace Restaurant

I had the misfortune of dining at CineSpace this weekend. The concept of Dinner and a Movie is a cool one. It's just executed badly. The place is over hyped, over priced, and just lame. The drinks are expensive by even Hollywood standards. They have a nightclub/bar attached to the place that gets going around 9:30. The problem is the dining room is 50' away. It's hard to enjoy a Black and White character driven movie when there is bass thumping so loud that the water on the table is shaking. The wait staff is inept at best, We had one dish come out to us cold, another, the special was 4x the price of the other entrees. This was not mentioned at ordering. You could order there $8 appetizer, $10 salad, $12 entree, and $7 desert for less than the cost of the 8oz fillet special. The food arrives after the film begins and the tables are at the same height as the staff so you miss parts of the film while they bring food, drinks, water to your table or any near you.

In the end the movie, "Good Night, and Good Luck" was good but I need to see it again for the parts I missed. The place is far more about Hollywood Style than Film or Food, that fact causes it to fail at both.

Do not go here:
Cinespace
6356 Hollywood Blvd.
2nd Level
Hollywood, CA 90028
http://www.cine-space.com/

Just Don't. You can check out there website, it makes it seem good. But Cinespace is not good, its bad, just bad. $22 for a Martini & Malibu n' Coke.

From what I hear the Alamo Draft house does a much better job at the Dinner and a Movie concept then Cine-Space does.

The only good thing was that we where out with good friends, and good friends can make even the worst meals enjoyable.

Yayyy!!!
We had a great carnivale today, I kept up the family tradition and made sno-cones. Karin rocked out on the baloon animals. She has a quiz over at her site, you should take it.
